Connect Claude to Datatrap
Connect an AI assistant with OAuth and understand the account and permissions it uses.
Add Datatrap as a custom connector in Claude to work with supported assessment, cohort, and result operations. You sign in to Datatrap and approve access without copying an API key.
Connect your account
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and use Add custom connector.
- Enter
https://mcp.datatrap.io/mcpas the connector URL. - Sign in with your Datatrap account when redirected.
- Review the application, return address, workspace, and requested permissions on the consent screen.
- Approve only if these match the connection you intended.
For Claude's current setup and workspace restrictions, see Anthropic's custom connector guide. A workspace administrator may control which connectors can be added.
Understand the workspace
The connection is bound to the training-partner account associated with your Datatrap user. A training-partner account can contain several client organisations. Connecting does not create a separate client-organisation boundary or give you an organisation picker for each request.
The connector's permissions combine credential scope with your account's role and supported access checks. Review the workspace shown during consent and use an appropriately restricted account. The training-partner workspace, rather than an individual client organisation, is the connection boundary.
| Permission | Permitted operation types |
|---|---|
| Read | Read supported data. |
| Write | Read, create, and update supported data. |
| Delete | Also permits supported deletion operations. |
A connector can change data when granted write access. Review proposed changes before asking the assistant to carry them out.
Reconnect or remove access
Disconnect the connector in Claude when you no longer need it. Ask a Datatrap administrator if you need server-side access revoked as well. Revoking an API key does not revoke a separate OAuth connection.
If access stops, check account status, permissions, workspace membership, and whether an administrator revoked the connection. Reconnecting does not override a suspension or restore a permission that was removed.
For other integrations, see Create an API key.
